WHALEWATCH Maui's #1 SAIL | SNORKEL | DINE 15-25% OFF ALL CRUISES MVG2026 PLUS Additional 5% Off PROMO CODE Redeem at PacWhale.com | (808) 249-8811 With 45 years of protecting whales through research and educational whale watches In the late 1970s, humpback whales were on the brink of ex- tinction. At the time, Maui was known for its tropical beaches and rural communities until Maui resident and Pacific Whale Foundation founder, Greg Kaufman first noticed what others overlooked. Every winter, a noticeable surge in whale sightings confirmed what Greg believed, humpback whales were consis- tently coming to Maui. In 1980, Greg founded Pacific Whale Foundation (PWF), committed to using research, storytelling, and public engage- ment to inspire conservation. His approach departed from more traditional activism; rather than confrontation. He believed that witnessing whales in their natural habitat could foster a deeper, enduring respect and drive for protection. Today, PWF carries forward that legacy by operating as both a nonprofit and through its wholly‑owned social enterprise, PacWhale Eco‑Adventures, which reinvests earnings from all ecotours directly into its research, conservation and education in Maui, Australia, Ecuador and Chile. PacWhale Eco‑Adventures also continues Greg’s legacy sur- rounding responsible whale‑watching. With over four decades of experience, each tour is guided by certified marine naturalists and unlike many operators running small rafts with no restrooms or shade, PacWhale uses spacious, eco‑designed catamarans that deliver smooth rides, comfort, and great visibility. When you take a cruise with PacWhale, you’re contributing to a story that started 45 years ago and one that will continue for generations to come.
